Background:

Heterotrimeric GTP-binding proteins containing Ga, Gb, and Gg subunits play important roles in transducing extracellular signals perceived by cell surface receptors into intracellular physiological responses. Arabidopsis has a single prototypical Ga protein (GPA1, AT2G26300) and three unique Ga-like proteins, known as XLG1 (AT2G23460), XLG2 (AT4G34390), and XLG3 (AT1G31930), that have been found to be localized in nuclei.
