An Arabidopsis thaliana mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase cascade composed of MEKK1 (AT4G08500), MEK1/MEK2, and MPK4 (AT4G01370). MEKK1 encodes a MAP kinase kinase kinase and is a member of a tandemly duplicated gene family with MEKK2 (AT4G08480) and MEKK3 (AT4G08470).
